New York Eye & Ear Infirmary

Keep everything in focus

Founded in 1820, the New York Eye & Ear Infirmary has the distinction of being the oldest specialty hospital in the Western Hemisphere. It also recognized early the increasing emphasis on outpatient care, and adapted its operations to fit this trend. Recent renovations incorporating the latest technologies have created highly efficient and attractive facilities for ambulatory surgery. Above all, however, the NYEEI is distinguished by its focus on eyes, ears, noses and throats. By performing more than 140,000 outpatient visits and 21,000 surgical procedures every year, it is the largest provider of care in its specialties in the country.

Recently ranked as one of the Top Specialty Hospitals by U.S. News and World Report, NYEEI offers nurses the chance to work with some of the most respected names in the field, introducing new techniques and technologies. NYEEI is also home to New York City’s only Pediatric Specialty Care Center, coordinating services of eye and ear-nose-throat specialists for the youngest patients.
