PREPARING A NEW GENERATION OF NURSING
LEADERS
New York City has made us believe in the power of sharing ideas. Knowledge
and experience are only useful when passed on, and sharing “best
practices” within an organization has long been a common way
to advance its larger purpose. Just as important as the information
shared, however, is developing the leaders who guide its implementation.
Because Continuum is committed to developing our hospitals into centers
of best practice, we are equally committed to developing our employees
into effective managers, executives and leaders.
Through an affiliation with the Advisory Board’s Nursing Leadership
Academy, Continuum is focused on elevating the performance of our
nursing leaders at all levels. It is a robust program with a shared
national curriculum, individual study modules, publications, on-site
programs, and performance reviews to build the leadership ranks in
hospitals across Continuum and across the country.
Continuum participates in other Advisory Board programs from which
nursing leaders and management can benefit. Through the Academy Fellowship,
Continuum offers both the Executive Fellows Curriculum on Strategy
and Enterprise Leadership, and the Management Fellows Curriculum on
Advanced Business, Operations and Leadership Skills. Both are two-year
programs that combine formal classroom education with on-site project
work. The Executive Fellows program develops star performers in middle
management, and the Management Fellows program serves exceptional
performers in junior management roles.
